ABOUT SST

Students for Safe Technology (SST) is a non-profit, student-led organization dedicated to providing free, accessible education and resources to help students and schools navigate the digital world safely and responsibly at home, in schools, and in healthcare settings. Originally founded in San Jose, CA, SST empowers youth to lead initiatives that promote online safety, healthy tech habits, and advocate for ethical technology use in education and beyond.

Our executive board and chapters work to host monthly educational events and conduct regular reviews of the latest research and policy.

What makes SST Different?

We are advised by top physicians and public health professors from our parent organization, Physicians for Safe Technology. This means we are a rigorous organization with a research-based, expert-backed curriculum.

Join us if you are interested in advocacy, policy, public health, cognitive science, and/or digital technology!

Mission & Goals

For students, by students

Due to the rapid advancements and integration of technology into our daily lives, it is more important than ever to educate youth on safe technology practices and protect youth against harmful technology through advocating for policy. SST aims to educate youth about safe technology practices through online awareness campaigns and educational events at schools and community organizations. We hope to create a world where technology serves our needs without undermining our physical, psychosocial, or environmental health.
